Airwaves City Car: Comfort, Safety, and Fun Rolled Into One

I can’t understand why too many car designers lately, seem too much engrossed with mouse-like concept cars. Remember the City Car from Massachussets? Yup! The car that can park by itself in just a push of a button. Designed to make car parking easier, the City Car is capable of folding itself into an eighth. Yes, eighth, of its original size, making it look more like a shopping trolley than a car.
Definitely, world traffic situation is really one major concern that needs to be addressed at present. However, just like public health and human rights, this area is commonly neglected and covered by other “more important” issues such as oil price hike and environmental degradation. Thus, the World Health Organization (WHO) has reported that more or less 1.2 million people die each year due to fatal road crashes while 50 million gets severe injuries. Worse, this figure is expected to rise by approximately 65 percent in the coming 20 years. Good thing, the WHO in coordination with the World Bank released a report on road traffic injury prevention aimed at stressing the fact that poor road traffic systems worldwide cause huge risks to public health. I think, the development of several City Car concepts in many countries worldwide is the people’s response to the call for better road traffic safety systems.
As I’ve mentioned earlier, one of those cars is the Massachusetts City Car concept (I prefer to call it that way since it doesn’t have any specific label). Joining the league of City Cars is the latest innovation made by Lei Liu. According to Linkedin, Liu, a graduate of Iowa State University, is a research scientist at Exelixis, Inc. His concept, the Airwaves, closely resembles the city car especially made for the people of Massachusetts. But actually, this one is different. Unlike the Massachusetts City car concept, the Airwaves City Car is a tricycle-type car. Aside from its original purpose, that is, to make parking a lot easier and hassle-free, the Airwaves is also designed to provide a safe but fun driving experience. Among the remarkable features of the Airwaves is its liquid crystal display (LCD) screen installed at its back. The said LCD screen is capable of displaying significant information including news and weather reports. In addition, it also lessens boredom while driving by flashing greeting words from the driver. The Airwaves features an electronic door, capable of rotating vertically instead of pivot outward like standard cars’ doors too.
Aside from fun, the Airwaves City Car concept also ensures the driver and the passengers’ safety. It incorporates a special lift device which allows the cabin to haul up by inertia whenever the driver makes use of emergency brake. It also applies in case he accidentally hits a pedestrian. Moreover, the airwaves feature outside and inside airbags to provide protection for its drivers, passengers, and most importantly, for the pedestrians.
Adding up to the Airwaves’ good points is the fact that it is an environment-friendly car. Because it is battery-powered, this car is guaranteed to yield zero emission. This is because the Airwaves City Concept Car has an estimated range of 50 to 60 miles. Plus, you can be assured that it promotes fuel economy, something everyone else wants in their cars these days.
So if you’re already sick of the dents, scrapes, and damages that tight parking cause to your vehicle; well, the Airwaves City car concept is one reason for you to rejoice. Aside from enjoying safety, fun, and convenience, this car helps you become an environment advocate in an instant! Nice car to look forward to in the future, isn’t it?
